About Our Organization
  Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, friendship, and life skills training to developmentally disabled individuals and their families. FCSN was founded in 1996 and has since expanded to a membership of over 500 families, serving around 250 individuals with autism, Down's syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

  To help children with special needs and their families find hope, love, respect, and support through integrated community involvement.  
 
Purpose And Objectives
  
  Offer special needs children an environment that is accepting, educational, and fun  
  Provide resources, information and support to families  
  Advocate full-inclusion educational systems that allow special needs children to interact with their peers  
  Promote the understanding of developmental disabilities for family members, friends, and students through volunteer programs  
 
Location, Contact and History
  
 

Our main office is located in Fremont, California. Currently, our Family Support Gatherings are held at the FCSN Center in Fremont, and Taiwanese-American Presbyterian Church in Saratoga. We also have local therapeutic and play groups in various cities of San Francisco bay area. We're proud to announce that the construction of our community center was completed in Summer 2006 and we have begun our programs there in Fall 2006. Having a permanent home allows us to provide additional services, such as job training, therapeutic modalities, and day programs.

Board Of Directors
 
 

The Board of Directors has the authority to make policy decisions on behalf of FCSN. The board consists of 17 family board members, who are elected by the active members each year to serve two-year terms. Please click to see Current Board of Directors

  
 
Administration
  
 

The President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, are nominated and elected annually by the board members. Task groups are established based on the business needs, with the coordinator of each group being appointed by the President. Please click to see Current Elected Officers and Staffs.
