Become a Volunteer

 

FCSN welcomes you to be part of our supportive village for individuals with special needs and their families.  Our mission is to help children/adults with special needs and their families find hope, love, respect and support through integrated involvement.

We appreciate your kindness and help to our special needs community.

We have established some requirements so that it would be a mutually rewarding experience for you and the special families.

1) All Volunteer are required to attend a volunteer orientation.

2) Entry level volunteers, youth or adults, will be assigned specific duties.  Your responsibility will be to follow the directions and report to the class teacher or program supervisor.

All adult volunteers must pass a background check at no cost to you prior to starting.Those working directly with clients will be required by State Law to complete a fingerprint imaging and be current on the TB test.  FCSN will try to make this process as easy and as painless as possible.

  As a volunteer-

 

Please be sensitive to physical contact with our students (children or adults) with special needs. Some students are extremely sensitive to body contact or being confined. Volunteers' friends and/or family members can only stay in the waiting area, they will not be allowed within the classrooms. Potential volunteers' visitations requests must be made with 48-hours prior notice and receive the program director's approval.

Please arrive on time. The use of cell phones and socializing with other volunteers will be discouraged. Follow the rules set for the program and the direction given by the supervisors.Treat all students with respect and understanding. Any inappropriate behavior may lead to termination. Any abusive behavior whether it is verbal or physical will be reported to CPS (Child protective service) or APS (Adult protective service). Please give us a 24-hour notice to attendance officer if you can't make it on the day of your volunteer section. Multiple absences will result in reassignment or termination.
